Wild World of Fighting: Alex Pereira Meets A Virgin, Tito Ortiz Praises Gregor McConor, & More

Look high, look low, look straight into the eyes of the Wild World of Fighting, the series that just wants to bang, bro.

On this trip on the city bus of weirdness, we get to see Alex Pereira having an awkward fan interaction, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the animal kingdom, and more. So have a seat and enjoy the ride, because the next stop is in the Wild World of Fighting.

Tito Ortiz Likes Who?

One of these days, someone is going to gather a compilation of the verbal blunders of former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. The former fighter and politician may have been one of the best in the world at fighting during his era, but he is also no stranger to awkward moments on the microphone.

Someone recently dug through the archives of Ortiz’s Interviews recently, for reasons that are honestly unclear. However, they uncovered a clip in which the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” discussed his favorite up and coming fighter, Ireland’s own Gregor McConor.

Personally, I like to imagine that Gregor McConor is the Wario-esque alternative version of Conor McGregor. Perhaps this version of the Irishman was a grappler with terrible stand-up, who never abuses substances, but stayed a Bellator journeyman.

Cat Uses Back Control Successfully

It is well documented that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is used to help people overcome size advantages that their opponent may have. You need only look at the beginnings of the UFC to see Royce Gracie put that into action.

However there is an animal kingdom in the Wild World of Fighting, and the animals there know BJJ too. A video that was making the rounds on Twitter recently, showed how those skills were utilized by a house cat, who showed some questionable back control while scrapping with a duck.

Apparently, BJJ does more than just help beat opponents who are bigger than you; it also works on opponents from another species. You still need to get your hooks in, though.

Michael Chandler’s Awkward TikToks

With the first episode of the new season of The Ultimate Fighter airing this week, fans are getting a close-up of both Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler over the next several weeks. While at this point, fans of the UFC have gotten plenty of face time with McGregor, for many newer fans of the sport, this will be their first real look into the kind of person Chandler is, at least as a coach.

Another way that Chandler has looked to show fans his more personal side is through his TikTok. As it currently stands, he has posted several videos showing the goofy side of himself, providing hilarious reactions while dueting videos of his own fight highlights.

This is a hilarious moment to see from Chandler, who is often positive and professional, but somewhat serious person when promoting fights. It will be interesting to see how he looks as a coach on TUF, especially after his strong start.

Safety First, Violence SecondΒ

A crucial piece of equipment for fighters is the mouth guard, protecting their sparking smiles. While these are oftentimes molded to the user’s teeth, they still have a tendency to fall out of people’s mouths during the hustle and bustle of caged combat.

Usually when a mouthpiece falls out, the referee intervenes to pause the action and let the fighter put him gum shield back in. However, one fighter was kind enough to pick up his opponent’s fallen mouth guard and shove it back into his mouth, before promptly bashing him in the teeth.

To do this, not only shows a big sign of restraint and wherewithal from the man on top, but also a lot of respect for his opponent’s health and safety. Even though fighters want to separate their foes from consciousness, they still understand how expensive dental care is.

Alex Pereira Supports His Fans

If there is one thing that never changes in the Wild World of Fighting, it is the fact that the fans are always wild too. Although you can see such strangeness just by looking at the crowd of any UFC event, it reaches a completely different level of bizarre when fans meet their favorite fighters.

Former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira was recently on the receiving end of one such incident of hilarious encounters. Apparently, he was trying to do a photo op with a fan who insisted on telling “Poatan” about his history with the horizontal mambo (or lack thereof), and Pereira’s reaction was priceless.

It takes a lot to make the stone cold Alex Pereira crack a smile. Apparently though, the sad story of a man and his hand was enough to break through.

With that hint of awkwardness, we bid farewell to this week’s Wild World of Fighting. Tune in next week to maybe find out if that guy finally had a little bit of the ol’ in and out.
