Dricus du Plessis on Israel Adesanya: ‘I will knock him out’

Dricicus du Plessis picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC 290 when he finished former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

The match was a de facto no. 1 contender bout. He’ll face champion Israel Adesanya next.  During du Plessis’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Adesanya entered the Octagon and got in du Plessis’s face.  He launched a verbal tirade as du Plessis stood there.

When asked about the future fight with Adesanya during the UFC 290 post-fight press conference, du Plessis made a bold prediction.

“I’ll knock him out just like I did (Whittaker) tonight,” he said. “We saw his fight with Alex Pereira. If I get him to the ground, it is not even a fight. It’s not even a fight. If I get my hands on him, it’s not even a fight. I will manhandle him.”

“As far as his striking goes, let’s take that out of the question. You are as good as your last performance. What did his last performance against Whittaker look like? Yeah, he beat him. It was a close fight. What did my last performance against Whittaker look like?”
