Yair Rodriguez issues statement following UFC 290 loss to Alexander Volkanovski

Rodriguez entered the bout the interim champion found out that Volkanovski held the championship belt for a reason.  

Rodriguez issued his statement on his instagram account.  

“Thanks for keeping an eye out friends.I know the expectations were not met, the truth of the heart I had in my mind the vision to win and the mindset.I can only say that congratulations to @alexvolkanovski for an excellent performance and to his team as well.

“Nothing shuts us down, I said it before and I will continue to say it, resilience is something that is part of me as all Mexicans and it is also of men to accept defeat when it knocks on our door.Not the only opportunity I will have to make all of you who love and support me proud many more to come!Viva Mexico 🇲🇽 today and always!”

Gracious in defeat, it’s back to the drawing board for Rodriguez in a stacked division.
