Alik Lorenz turning up the Texas heat at LFA 163

Following nearly a two year layoff, light-heavyweight Alik Lorenz was able to return to fighting with a first round TKO of Fernando Alvarado at King of the Cage: Coastline this past February.

While he didn’t have as much time as maybe he would have liked to prepare for the bout, Lorenz Is pleased with how the bout turned out and is ready for more.

“It was a good fight,” Lorenz told MMAWeekly.com. “It was kind of a short notice fight, but it was a tough opponent in Fernando Alvarado, and I got that first round stoppage, TKO, so it felt really great to start the year off with a big win like that, a stoppage, and I’m ready to keep that rolling this next fight as well.”

Part of why Lorenz had so much time off, was the fact he was relocating so he could improve his game.

“I actually made the move out to Arizona from Iowa a little over a year now. And now I’m at the MMA Lab training with a lot of great guys and a great coach in John Crouch,” said Lorenz.

“This last fight was my first fight under the MMA Lab and got a big stoppage there. I’ve only gotten better since then training with the great guys at the MMA Lab.”

Alik Lorenz faces Kyler Fairchild at LFA 163 in Texas

This Saturday in Belton, Texas, Lorenz (2-1) will look to pick up his second win in a row when he faces Kyler Fairchild (2-1) in a main card light heavyweight bout at LFA 163.

“Kyler Fairchild looks like a game opponent,” Lorenz said. “He looks like a brawler, coming out looking for the finish, and that’s how I like to fight.

“Both of our records are stoppages, KOs, finishes, and that’s what I expect this fight to be. If it makes it out of the first round, it makes it out of the first round, but he likes to start hot and I like to start hot too, so we’ll see what happens.”

When it comes to the remainder of his year, Lorenz would like to keep his momentum going and at least get in one more bout before the end of 2023.

“I like to have a plan,” said Lorenz. “I’m really aiming for at least three fights this year. I wanted four, but at least three. It took a little longer to get fights lined up. I’m ready to go. I’m ready to be active.

“Ideally I’d like to get four fights in, but at least three, short-notice fights, or getting time to get a full camp like for this one; this is where I’m at right now.”
