On Wednesday, the news broke of Irish singer Sinead O’Connor’s passing. Mainstream media outlets spent the better part of the day honoring the singer.
Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor commented on her passing. She sang McGregor to the octagon at UFC 189 when the Irishman faced Chad Mendes.
“Guted,” he wrote on Twitter. “The world has lost an artist with the voice of an Angel. Ireland has lost an iconic voice and one of our absolute finest, by a long shot. And I have lost a friend. Sinead’s music will live on and continue to inspire! Rest In Peace, Sinead you are home with your son I am sure.”
