DWCS Week 1: Cesar Almeida vs. Lucas Fernando results

The first week of Dana White’s Contender Series is in the books. On Tuesday, Aug. 8 10 men fought for their chance at earning a UFC contract. 

Five fighters made it to the big show, all of the winners.

The main event between middleweights Caio Machado and Kevin Szaflarski was uneventful, but Machado dominated all three rounds. It was the co-main that drew all the attention with Tom Nolan securing the only finish of the night, a first-round KO. 

DWCS Week 1 results:

Cesar Almeida defeated Lucas Fernando via unanimous decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-27)

Tom Nolan defeated Bogdan Grad via KO, Round 1 – 1:23

Caio Machado defeated Kevin Szaflarski via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

Payton Talbott defeated Reyes Cortez Jr. via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Kevin Borjas defeated Victor Dias via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Dana White gave contracts to Almeida, Nolan, Machado, Talbott, and Borjas.
