Dana White insists Mark Zuckerberg wants UFC fight, even sans Elon Musk

It now appears that the potential battle between tech titans Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and X’s (formerly Twitter) Elon Musk is not going to manifest itself as did Floyd Mayweather Jr. boxing Conor McGregor. But UFC president Dana White believes that we shouldn’t count Zuckerberg out of a UFC bout.

White says that Zuckerberg is very serious about his martial arts training. He also says that the Facebook head honcho could step into the Octagon for a bout against a professional fighter if the Musk bout continues sliding into “never was gonna happen” territory.

In speaking with TMZ Sports ahead of UFC 292: Sterling vs. O’Malley, White said of Zuckerberg, “He takes this sport very seriously. He trains very hard. And he is very serious about possibly competing some day. That’s why he didn’t want to be a part of something that kept being talked about, but probably wouldn’t happen.”

That a Musk vs. Zuckerberg fight is fading into the ether isn’t all that surprising. It would have been more surprising for most people of two multi-billionaires actually put on the gloves to fight with nothing more than pride at stake.

Regardless of how seriously the X/Tesla/SpaceX leader did or did not take a potential bout, White insists Zuckerberg wasn’t joking. He truly wants to step into the cage and compete.

“He’s very serious about competing. What he was saying in response to Elon was, there are tons of professional organizations out there and this is the way that this should be done. Not in some backyard or whatever Elon was saying,” White continued before directly addressing whether or not it was possible Zuckerberg would take on a UFC fighter.

“Anything is possible,” said White. “And he is absolutely interested in doing that.”
