DWCS 61 winner Brendson Ribeiro: ‘Just keep doubting me, and I’ll keep showing you’

LAS VEGAS – Brendson Ribeiro wasn’t given much of a chance by the oddsmakers heading into Dana White’s Contender Series 61. Then he scored one of the most violent finishes of the season.

Ribeiro demolished Bruno Lopes in their light heavyweight headliner Tuesday at the UFC Apex, winning by first-round TKO. Lopes was on the attack, but Ribeiro countered with a brutal right hand that folded previously undefeated Lopes to the canvas. Ribeiro rushed in with heavy hammerfists to seal the deal.

And just like that, Ribeiro, listed as high as a 4-to-1 underdog with Lopez a 6-to-1 favorite, earned himself a UFC contract from Dana White. Ribeiro said afterward that he had no clue about the odds being stacked against him.

“I did not know beforehand,” Robeiro said through an interpreter. “I found out later after the fight. But you know, keep doubting me. Keep doubting me. … Just keep doubting me, and I’ll keep showing you.”
