Mike Perry says going back to the UFC would be a ‘massive pay cut’

“Platinum” Mike Perry has become the face of Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship.

After fighting out his UFC contract in 2021, the heavy-hitting brawler signed with BKFC.  He’s undefeated (3-0) in the no gloves fight promotion.  He recently signed a new BKFC contract.  During an appearance on the MMA Hour, Perry was asked if he’d consider going back to the UFC.  Perry said it would be a ‘massive’ drop in pay.

No (I wouldn’t return to the UFC) because the pay cut would have been too massive, and it’s five-minute rounds, and it’s MMA.  I like the boxing.  I mean, all I ever did in MMA, I know I trained lots of stuff and I would even get kind of good at grappling, wrestling, or whatever in certain positions.  I’m fighting in a fight where they’re saying, ‘get a takedown,’ and I’m like, you know I’m thinking about hitting him.  Right?”

Perry’s MMA record was 14-8 with six of his eight losses by decision.  He was dangerous for anyone but bare-knuckle fighting has been more suited for his fighting style.

“I should ultimately fight how I want to fight.  I’m the fighter.  I’m the athlete, the one getting in there, so that’s how I train now.  I get in the ring and I fight my way now and I practice for it that way, so bare-knuckle was a no-brainer.”
