UFC Vegas 80 Highlights Videos: Bobby Green delivers shock 33-second knockout of Grant Dawson

The main event featured two standout lightweights who are in completely different places in their careers. One is a seasoned veteran, Bobby Green who wants to make a final push to the top of the mountain, the other is a tricky prospect who is on the verge of his first big run toward the UFC title picture.

Competing in his first main event for the promotion, ‘KGD’ was hoping to make a statement against a man who had been under the spotlight for many years prior to his arrival. The bout started out with both men feeling one another out but it didn’t take long until Bobby Green took the initiative.

A wicked straight left as his opponent was lunging in for a strike of his own sent Dawson crashing down to the canvas. A few follow-up strikes forced referee Kevin Peterson to intervene and save the 29-year-old from any further damage.

Green lands a significant left that spells the beginning of the end for his opponent.

Both Green and Dawson shared a moment of respect as the dust settled on the UFC Vegas 80 headliner.

‘King’ has shared the octagon with some of the very best and even scored wins over certified future Hall-of-Famers, but this win could well be his most impressive. This win extends the vet’s winning run to two after he locked in a huge arm triangle choke submission victory over the legendary Tony Ferguson earlier this year.

Although the outspoken lightweight refused to call anybody out, he did give a timeline for when he wanted to return. Calling himself a Las Vegas resident now, Green insisted that he wants nobody to fight more than himself this year and called for a spot on the December card.

“I thought I hit him with the right. It’s the left? Okay. Man, sh*t happens. Let’s go.” Said Green when watching the replay of his knockout. “I don’t call shots, I just take whoever they put in front of me, you know? I could call names all day but I don’t know, I’m just fun. I just come when I come. I like to do this, I don’t like to call shots, [but] can I call a date? I wanted to fight in December, I wanted to be the most active fighter this year, you know what I mean? Nobody has got more fights than me this year, so put me in December. I just bought a house in Vegas, I’m trying to get my little Vegas residency. I’m a Vegas guy now so if I can get on a Vegas card, that’d be amazing.”

UFC 296 headlined by the welterweight title match between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington will take place on December 16. The star-studded event currently has five huge matchups and a potentially newly ranked Bobby Green would be a great addition to the card.

To cap off his brilliant performance, Green secured himself a bonus from Dana White and took home some extra money for his troubles.
