Mike Perry makes a U-turn in potential fight against Logan Paul

Logan Paul is set to come face-to-face with Dillon Danis in the boxing ring in the co-main event of the Misfits ‘Prime’ card on October 14. While it now looks to be going ahead, Danis shed doubt on it taking place after insisting that he won’t be competing on the night.

Shortly after the jiu-jitsu specialist’s comments, Mike Perry shocked the combat sports world when he claimed he was “in” to face Logan Paul. Since then, the bout has been clouded by uncertainty but ‘Platinum’ has now seemingly accepted that he will not be stepping into the ring this weekend.

In an interview with TMZ, a determined Perry spoke on still preparing for a fight and that if there’s even a small chance he can strap on the gloves, he would.

“Preparing for a fight like normal, like I’m the one fighting. Everyone’s been telling me I’m the one fighting. My coaches are on it, my managers are on it. We’ve been preparing.” Said Perry when discussing how he’s keeping himself ready. “They told me, all the way up until the point where, if Danis gets in the ring, answers the bell, and walks out of the ring to say that he was there, that he showed up, I would still get in the ring and I would fight Logan.”

Although he expects to be in the back prepping for a fight in the off-chance Danis doesn’t show up, Mike Perry revealed that he believes the original bout will commence and he won’t be needed.

“I’m assuming I won’t be in the crowd, I’ll be in the back. I’ll be prepping and wait for their word to be like, ‘Okay, it’s your time. Danis isn’t here.’ Whatever. Maybe we’ll know sooner.” Insisted Perry. “Maybe Danis won’t go at all, who knows? I think he will. I think he will. Chael Sonnen thinks he will. But, Chael Sonnen also said he doesn’t think that Danis explained why he pulled out of the KSI fight. I thought that he did say that he didn’t train, [and] didn’t have a team. I don’t see him having a team right now this time, either. He’s been all over the place, training [in] different places with random people.”

Is Mike Perry going to corner Dillon Danis?

With Dillon Danis possibly lacking a team, Mike Perry opened up on the potential of being in the corner of the undefeated mixed martial artist. While he’d rather compete himself, the gritty BKFC competitor remains open to the idea of helping ‘El Jefe’.

“My coach even said something to me today, ‘What if Danis comes and he needs help in the corner?’ And then I corner Dillon Danis… Yeah, sure [I’d do that].”

Perry has a history of wild corner antics throughout his career. His most notable arguably being the time he brought his girlfriend as his only corner, instead of opting for somebody more qualified.
