Conor McGregor seemingly returns to USADA drug testing pool

It seems that Conor McGregor is once again in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool.

McGregor took to his X account to share a message, seemingly from USADA, welcoming him back to the testing pool. The message reads, “Dear Conor McGregor, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) would like to take a moment to welcome you back as a member of the UFC Registered Testing Pool (RTP).”

Last week, McGregor announced that he had actually submitted paperwork to return to the testing pool. It seems his claim was truthful. Now, McGregor must undergo six months of regular testing before being allowedto fight again. If the Irishman begins testing again this week, he should be eligible to return to action as soon as April of 2024.

His last bout took place in July of 2021, when he suffered a broken leg during his rematch with Dustin Poirier. Since, McGregor coached The Ultimate Fighter for the second time in his career opposite Michael Chandler. The expectation is that Chandler will be the one to welcome the former dual-weight champion back to the Octagon once USADA testing is no longer an issue.

McGregor hasn’t recorded a victory in mixed martial arts (MMA) since January of 2020 when he finished Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the first round. As for Chandler, while the former Bellator lightweight champion has been active, he’s only won one of his last four fights.

Both McGregor and Chandler are known to be some of the more exciting combatants under the UFC’s banner. So when they do inevitably collide, it’s sure to be a spectacle.
