Conor McGregor praises Dillon Danis: ‘You built that card tremendously’

Dillon Danis made his boxing debut against Logan Paul at Misfits Boxing over the weekend and his former training partner Conor McGregor praised his efforts on social media.

McGregor took to X on Monday to tell Danis that he was ‘proud’ of him and his efforts inside the boxing ring against the much bigger Paul.

“Proud of you Dillon! You built that card tremendously and went out swinging! 4x jiu jitsu world champion with the bottle to go into Pro boxing in front of the world. Chalk it up to the first time ever in history that has been done! Well done brother! Onwards,” McGregor wrote.

Danis was never in the fight.  Paul outworked him throughout the match and was on his way to a one-sided unanimous decision when Danis tried to apply a guillotine choke in the final round.  A melee broke out between teams and Danis was quickly disqualified for his antics.

Danis is signed with Bellator MMA but hasn’t fought in MMA since June 2019.  He’s unbeaten as a mixed martial artist (2-0) and has expressed plans to fight out the remaining two bouts on his Bellator contract.  It’s unlikely that we’ll see Danis inside a boxing ring again, but crazier things have happened.
