No-gi grappling icon Gordon Ryan is back in the headlines for something other than his wonky stomach, mutating physique, and disdain for Dillon Danis.

The still-frosty 28 year-old heavyweight recently announced his Mason Fowler showdown for the upcoming UFC Fight Pass Invitational on Dec. 9 in Las Vegas, which as the name suggests, streams LIVE on the UFC Fight Pass digital network.

UFC Fight Pass requires a $9.99/mo subscription (or $95.99 for the “annual pass”) and gives users access to “exclusive prelims for all PPV events, the entire UFC Fight Library, live martial arts events from around the world and exclusive original series and shows.”

The 30 year-old Fowler, a jiu-jitsu black belt under Brazilian wunderkind Caio Terra, shocked the grappling community with consecutive wins over top names Craig Jones and Vinny Magalhaes as part of the Submission Underground tournament back in summer 2020.

As for Ryan, 28, he’s racked up nearly 40 straight wins over the last several years against some of the biggest names in the business, including Garry Tonon, Roberto Abreu, and Andre Galvao, just to name a few, but is better known to casual fans for his online antics.

UFC Fight Pass Invitational will also feature the showdown between Nick Meragali and Felipe Pena. Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was also planning to compete; however, injuries postponed his much-ballyhooed Nick Diaz match.

“Rush” will instead take a seat at the “Sin City” commentary table.
