UFC star Derrick Lewis arrested, charged for allegedly driving 86 mph over speed limit

UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis faces a charge for reckless driving acquired 10 days prior to his UFC Fight Night 231 main event Saturday vs. Jailton Almeida.

Lewis, 38, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 25, and charged with a misdemeanor, according to court records.

Harris County (Texas) police allege Lewis drove 136 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to ABC 13 Houston. The department also said Lewis, who was driving a red Lamborghini, made unsafe lane changes while he weaved in and out of traffic.

Lewis was released on $100 bond hours after his arrest. Lewis is due back in court Dec. 27.

The promotion nor Lewis has commented on the matter at this time. Lewis is already in Brazil, according to social media.

Lewis (27-11 MMA, 18-9 UFC) will headline the UFC’s return event Saturday in São Paulo, Brazil against rising heavyweight Almeida (19-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC). “The Black Beast” is the UFC’s all-time knockout leader.
