UFC Fight Night 231 video: Jailton Almeida, Derrick Lewis shake hands in respectful final faceoff

The main event of UFC Fight Night 231 is set, and the headliners Jailton Almeida and Derrick Lewis had one final staredown at ceremonial weigh-ins.

Almeida (19-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) enters his second consecutive main event spot, taking on former title challenger Lewis (27-11 MMA, 18-9 UFC) at the event which takes place Saturday at Ginasio Do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo. The event streams on ESPN+.

Undefeated since entering the UFC after a Dana White’s Contender Series appearance in 2021, Almeida has defeated all five opponents he’s faced by stoppage no later than the second round. Lewis, who challenged for the heavyweight title in 2018, has seen his ups and downs since then. In his last outing, he took out Marcos Rogerio de Lima with a flying knee in just 33 seconds.
