Deontay Wilder willing to fight Nate Diaz in MMA, Diaz accepts

Deontay Wilder recently said that he’s going to fight MMA at some point.  That point could be sooner rather than later.

Wilder was asked if he’d be willing to fight Nate Diaz in the cage and he said that he’d be down.  Diaz responded that he’d accept the fight.

“Most definitely,” Wilder said when asked if he’d be willing to get in the cage with Nate Diaz.  Diaz replied to Wilder’s comments, saying, “Let’s get these contract written up asap.  Real fight sh*t respect to a real fighter down to fight for real. All love to boxing, But this is different REAL sh*t LFG 1993.”

Diaz is a free agent unsigned by any mixed martial arts promotion.  He fought out his UFC contract in Sept. of last year.  He fought Jake Paul in a boxing match in August, losing by unanimous decision.

Most promoters would love to put on a bout between Diaz and Wilder.  Rarely do boxers enter MMA.  Jame Toney did fight Randy Couture at UFC 118 in Aug. 2010 in a heavyweight match.  Couture quickly took Toney down and finished him in the first round.

We’ll see if Diaz versus Wilder ever comes to fruition, but it’s an interesting development.
