Logan Paul announces his retirement from boxing

One month removed from his win over Dillon Danis, Logan Paul announced his retirement from boxing.  Paul’s boxing record is 1-1.  Paul made his boxing debut in November 2019, losing to YouTube content creator KSI (Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji).  Four years would go by before he had another match.

On Oct. 14, Paul defeated Dillon Danis via disqualification.  Paul looked good the first five rounds of the six-round bout.  He repeatedly landed his jab and was on his way to a unanimous decision.  In the final round, Danis tried to take Paul down.  Later in the round, Danis tried to guillotine choke Paul.  A melee between the teams ensued and Danis was disqualified.

Danis, a jiu-jitsu fighter formerly signed under the Bellator MMA banner, appealed the loss because after the guillotine choke attempt, Paul punched him while he was on the ground.  Nothing came of it.

Paul did box Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition bout in June 2021.  The bout wasn’t scored so no winner was announced, but it was clear that Paul was outmatched.

“I think I’ve retired from boxing.  I think I’ve done enough in the sport going undefeated 25-0.  So yeah, I’m going to be a wrestler.  Yeah, there’s no money in boxing.  Every company is going broke, so full-time wrestler, ” Paul told Fox Business.

Paul is a professional wrestler for the WWE.  He’s the newly minted U.S. Champion of the WWE.  A star for the pro wrestling organization, Paul once drew praise from UFC president Dana White.

“I mean look at Logan Paul,” said White during the UFC 285 Post-Fight Press Conference. “Have you seen his wrestling?”

“I don’t know Jack-Sh*t about wrestling, but let me tell you what I do know. They hit a f**king home run with that guy, an absolute home run. He is incredibly talented. He’s an amazing athlete. I was blown away by watching him.”
