Holloway Vs. Gaethje For The BMF At UFC 300?

Holloway vs. Gaethje at UFC 300? Yes, please.

A fight between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway has been at the top of fantasy UFC fights for quite some time, and it feels like it’s getting closer.

“Blessed” and “The Highlight” are in very unfun spots because one doesn’t know what is next for them, or the other doesn’t know when he is fighting. Holloway has cleaned out the Featherweight division but is stuck in divisional purgatory because he has three losses to Alexander Volkanovski. Meanwhile, Gaethje has stated he is next for the Lightweight title, but he has to wait for Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira to rematch, which could be in the summer of 2024.

So, with no immediate plans in sight, Holloway has offered to fight Gaethje at UFC 300 for the Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) belt because he doesn’t think Gaehtje should sit out for 18 months.

“I was shooting my shot with the ‘BMF,’ the Highlight, you know. I think we both would make a fun one for the fans; there is that ‘BMF’ belt. I know they are short on guys for UFC 300, so that would be ideal,” Holloway told ESPN recently. “That would be one for the fans because he’s going to be waiting. If Islam doesn’t fight before Ramadan, he is going to have to wait all the way until October, and that will be over a year and a half since his last fight. I don’t think he should be sitting around that long. So, in the meantime, why not have a fun one, both make a lot of money, and we’ll put on a show and make a lot of fans happy. That’s the idea…I wouldn’t want talent like that sitting out for a year for a title shot. I understand where he’s coming from. I understand why he wants to; he deserves the next shot.”

Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, even threw out the idea on Twitter but for UFC 298.

Whether it happens at UFC 300 or not, Holloway and Gaethje are bound to meet each other in the octagon before they call it a career. Or maybe they won’t because Gaethje doesn’t want to punch the Hawaiian.

Gaethje is coming off a highlight knockout of Dustin Poirer that won him the BMF title, while Holloway is coming off retiring The Korean Zombie via knockout.
