Poirier is 2-1 against McGregor but willing to entertain a fourth fight if it means no longer having to hear ‘The Notorious’ downplay his wins.

We’re still waiting for Conor McGregor to finally get a date for his long-awaited return against Michael Chandler, but that hasn’t stopped Mac from lining up more opponents down the line.

Asked on X (formerly Twitter) about a fourth fight against Dustin Poirier, McGregor replied “Let’s be real, it’s a must. Unfinished.”

Poirier is 2-1 against McGregor, although “The Notorious” feels like the second loss in July 2021 doesn’t really count because he broke his leg before the fight really got started. Asked about Conor’s comments, Dustin sounded open to the idea of a fourth fight.

“We’ll see, I probably would try to shut him up once and for all,” Poirier said. “But even if I slap his ass around again, he’s still gonna be chatting. So, we’ll see.”

The back-to-back wins over McGregor in 2021 undoubtedly earned Poirier a ton of money, and we assume “The Diamond” sees the Irish sports star as an easy payday, especially with Mac coming off a long layoff swilling endless pints of Forged Irish Stout.

“That’s a huge fight,” Poirier admitted. “I’m 2-1 against him. I don’t really see another reason for it. But it’d be a huge fight.”

Barring a 180 degree change of plans, McGregor will first have to get past Michael Chandler. The two coached an entire season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite each other, and Chandler has been waiting around for McGregor since losing to Poirier a year ago at UFC 281. There’s been talk of the fight being pushed back to July, so anything involving Dustin won’t be happening soon.

As for what “The Diamond” has on his mind right now? A spot on UFC 300 in April 2024. Opponent-wise, nothing is for sure. But at this point, any bout with Poirier involved is must-see.
