Midnight Mania! Green Demands Fight Vs. Fellow Gangster, Three Respond

UFC Austin is a great card, but one of its best fights just fell apart when Dan Hooker’s recently broken arm was re-injured in training. Subsequently, Bobby Green doesn’t have a dance partner right now, and UFC is looking for a replacement opponent. “King” has stepped up on very short-notice in the past, and he took to his Instagram story to call out another “gangster” to do the same.

“I want to see who’s gangster like me,” Green said (via MMA Junkie). I fought on 10 days’ notice. I went on two weeks’ notice. I done made weight, passed the f—k out, my lungs collapsed and everything on two weeks’ notice. I done did it all. Let me see who gangster like me. I guarantee don’t nobody step up. Let’s find out.”

There are at least a handful interested. Most notably, former Lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos responded and agreed to step up on short-notice — a very “RDA” move! However, dos Anjos did request that the bout take place at 165- or 170-pounds, so he didn’t exactly fulfill all of Green’s gangster qualifications.

In addition, former foe Jared Gordon is offering to rematch Green. Gordon just fought and won quickly a couple weeks ago, so he’s presumably in good shape and close to 155 lbs. Just as importantly, the two have a storyline, as Green knocked out Gordon earlier this year with an inadvertent head butt, resulting in a “No Contest” and some considerable controversy.

Finally, Terrance McKinney is champing at the bit for a short-notice opportunity. The up-and-coming Lightweight knockout artist cites his own history of short-notice fights as qualifications, and that’s a guaranteed fun match up.

At the time of writing, no official replacement has been named, but he’s got at least a handful of good options. Who would you like to see Green face?
