Broke Forge Inn?

At least “Notorious” didn’t make this mis-steak.

Conor McGregor bought the Black Forge Inn back in 2020, dumped a few million into renovations, and opened to much fanfare in summer 2021. Unfortunately, the Dublin watering hole has yet to prove profitable, losing nearly $475,000 last year to bring its total losses to over $2 million.

That’s according to a report from Irish Independent, which also claims McGregor (operating under the property management firm Jemi Ventures) bought the barbershop adjacent to Black Forge Inn and ran the family-owned business — which stood at that location for more than 70 years — out of town after tripling its rent.

Black Forge Inn has become a Dublin destination for celebrities and combat sports personalties, ranging from rap icon Snoop Dogg to UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett. It’s also been the target of random attacks, like the 2022 firebombing that failed to cause any exterior damage during a January menu tasting.

McGregor, 35, is expected to make his Octagon return at some point in early-to-mid 2024. The rumor mill has “Notorious” headlining UFC 300 in April; however, his longtime coach, John Kavanagh, recently suggested the promotion will continue to keep its options open for the time being, at least in terms of McGregor’s return.
