Ferguson Ducks DUI Charge, Gets ‘Wet Reckless’ Probation

Ferguson will spend a year on probation after totaling several cars and flipping his truck on its side outside a Los Angeles nightclub.

Tony Ferguson had a misdemeanor DUI charge dismissed on Monday as part of a plea deal reached between “El Cucuy” lawyers and L.A. prosecutors.

Video from May 7th, 2023 showed Ferguson’s white Chevrolet truck sitting on its side in the road after smashing into several other parked cars. TMZ’s reporting had police on site claiming the lightweight fighter was “very uncooperative,” “reeked of alcohol,” and refused to take a sobriety test.

Things did not sound good for Ferguson, but he’d go on to plead not guilty. And now we have the news that he has beaten the DUI charge for the most part.

As part of a plea deal, Ferguson pleaded ‘nolo contendere’ to one charge of misdemeanor wet reckless driving upon a highway. As a result of this, Tony will serve one year under probation. He may not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in his system, and he’ll have to pay restitution to the owners of the cars he totaled.

‘Nolo contendere’ is a plea where a defendant accepts conviction as though a guilty plea had been entered, but they do not have to admit guilt. If that bit of legalese isn’t nonsense enough for you, check out ‘wet reckless driving.’ It’s where someone charged with DUI receives a lesser charge (usually reckless driving) along with a note that drugs or alcohol were involved. It’s usually saved for first offenses, cases without sufficient evidence, or plea bargains.

Here’s hoping Tony learned whatever lessons there are to be learned from a situation like this.
