Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO, Dana White, isn’t sold on the initially rumored pay-per-view (PPV) numbers for Logan Paul and Dillon Danis’ recent boxing match.

Whether professional, exhibition, or amateur, the elder Paul brother, Logan (1-1, 0-0-1 amateur, 0-0, 1 no decision in exhibition), picked up his first win as a boxer at the DAZN Misfits boxing card last month (Oct. 14, 2023). Welcoming one-time Bellator prospect, Danis, back to combat sports after a lengthy hiatus, Paul cruised his way to a sixth round disqualification victory in what became a heated rivalry.

After the card’s conclusion, a reported number of 1.3 million PPV buys surfaced from the event’s sponsor, Happy Punch, before being debunked as more likely around 100,000. From the aforementioned White’s seat, he’s more aligned with the latter.

“I haven’t heard about anybody selling a lot of pay-per-views lately,” White told the FULL SEND PODCAST (h/t MMA Fighting). “Let me tell you how hard it is to sell 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, and if you did sell 1.3 million — if you sold 700,000 pay-per-view buys — they’d put putting on fights f—king 10 times a year.

“When you hear those kinds of numbers fly around the pay-per-view world, they’re lying motherf—kers. Don’t ever believe that s—t,” he concluded.

The match for Paul was his first time in a boxing ring since his June 2021 exhibition clash with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Primarily focused on his work in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Paul managed to generate a good enough buzz with Danis to at least outshine their event’s headliner bout between Olajide “KSI” Olatunji and Tommy Fury.

While the influencer boxing boom has been abundant since the Paul brothers got involved around 2018, their matches still come few and far between. White looks at the lack of events specifically as proof enough that the PPV numbers are skewed.

“You know how much money that is if they cut a deal and did 1.3 million pay-per-view buys?” White said. “Anybody who’s been on any of these f—king horrible boxing shows, and I like Logan and some of these guys that are involved in this s—t, if you come out and you say you did 1.3 million pay-per-view buys on your event, you’re lying through your f—king teeth. Lying through your teeth.

“The amount of money you’d f—king make, they’d be doing pay-per-views all the f—king time,” he added. “Let me tell you what, every pay-per-view distributor out there would want them, and Showtime wouldn’t have went out of business.”
