Platinum Vs Gamebred? ‘It Would Be An Honor’

Retired UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal, like so many other MMA stars of past and present, got his start in the backyards of Miami, throwing hands with anyone willing to step up and test themselves against the king of Chinese bathroom brawls.

Mike Perry was watching.

That’s why “Platinum” would be honored to compete against “Gamebred” in the bareknuckle arena. The 32 year-old Perry, who also fought inside the Octagon for several years, is now 4-0 under the BKFC banner with two knockouts.

“A definite tough fight, the toughest out there, would be the original bare knuckle boxer,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “I watched him on kimbofights on YouTube in high school, I know calling him out could open a whole new world between us but man to man for the prize of a lifetime it would be an honor to bare knuckle fight [Jorge Masvidal].”

Perry put away former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to be crowned “King of Violence” at BKFC 56 last weekend in Salt Lake City. As for Masvidal, he’s remained inactive since dropping a decision to welterweight veteran Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

A return to action has not been ruled out.

That said, Perry would have to convince Masvidal, 39, to join the BKFC lineup, or somehow get permission from his current promoter to compete under Masvidal’s Gamebred FC banner. Unlikely, but certainly one of those “fantasy fights” fans should keep an eye on.
