PFL Installs ‘SmartCage’ In Jake Paul’s Gym

Celebrity boxer Jake Paul has no experience in mixed martial arts (MMA) and doesn’t train at any of the big combat sports gyms, so Professional Fighters League (PFL) brought a “SmartCage” to “The Problem Child’” ahead of his 2024 debut.

Hopefully they remembered to turn the oven off.

“Jake is also, as you know, a PFL athlete,” PFL’s Senior Vice President, James Frewin, told Daily Mail. “He’s an unbelievable ambassador for the sport. We put a PFL SmartCage in his gym just a few weeks ago, so he’s training very hard. He’s obviously got boxing on his agenda coming up in a couple of weeks and PFL will always be in his corner for that. And then there’ll be an announcement on date very soon.”

PFL also said Paul would “absolutely” fight in 2023.

The promotion’s SmartCage utilizes biometric sensors and proprietary technology that measures real-time fighter performance data and analytics, what the PFL is calling “Cagenomics” (not to be confused with “Thugonomics”).

Paul, 26, will continue his boxing career against Andre August on Dec. 15 in Orlando, part of a slow build that is designed to establish “The Problem Child” as a legitimate boxer. Until then, his MMA debut will remain on hold for the time being.
