Cody Garbrandt returned to form earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 16, 2023) at UFC 296 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the former UFC bantamweight king brutally stopped Brian Kelleher with a one-punch knockout.

Kelleher was returning from a lengthy layoff due to neck surgery so fans didn’t know what to expect from the veteran fighter. Luckily, Kelleher was game to throw down and even had Garbrandt hurt in the early going with whipping calf kicks.

Garbrandt, who was clearly the faster striker, relied on his shot selection and timing to land crisp shots. This included a massive right hand that wobbled Kelleher late into the first. “No Love” followed that up with another perfectly-timed right hand that stunned Kelleher and sent him crashing to the canvas. Garbrandt didn’t even step in to land another punch as Kelleher was completely toast.

Check out the video highlights below:

Garbrandt, 32, was coming off a decision win over Trevin Jones back in March so that now puts the veteran fighter on a nice little win streak to begin 2024. The former UFC champion called out Deiveson Figueiredo to a fight in April or May so we’ll see if UFC rides the hot hand and gets Garbrandt back in the bantamweight mix.
