Henry Cejudo isn’t cool with UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland for igniting a brawl with Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 296.
Strickland jumped Du Plessis during this past Saturday’s event at T-Mobile Arena, which resulted in him getting escorted out. Strickland was not happy with Du Plessis’ comments during Thursday’s press conference in which the South African brought up Strickland’s abusive childhood.
But considering all the insults Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) lobbed toward Du Plessis (20-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC), Cejudo believes it’s weak for Strickland to retaliate.
“There is one thing I’ll say about Sean Strickland, and it does kind of piss me off a little bit about him, is he likes to talk about other people,” Cejudo said in a video posted on X. “He likes to talk about other people’s wives, but when somebody brings up something about his past and with his dad, all of a sudden he’s crying. Sean Strickland, you just talked about him and his coach making out, him and his coach f*cking, and now when they say something about you when you’re a kid and all this other sh*t, and now you get pissed off, and you’re the first one throwing blows. You know what that is? That’s a b*tch move.
“What I’m saying is, with Sean Strickland, if you cannot take it, then don’t give it. This is the perfect time for a guy like Ian Garry to get on the mic to make everything right and now to pick on a guy like Sean Strickland. And how do you do that? You do that by talking sh*t, you bring up the past like he’s a little girl. Sean Strickland, my biggest takeaway here, if you could give it, you can take it. You don’t got to get into some little pity patty punches and especially if you lose, that sh*t’s going to come back and haunt you. So remember: You better be holding five aces, you better do it right. Because if not, man, you lose this next fight, you’re going to become the laughing stock.”
Strickland and Du Plessis will get to settle their differences on Jan. 20 when they square off in the UFC 297 main event at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
