2023 year in review video: Another year without a Conor McGregor fight

With 2023 coming to a close, “Spinning Back Clique” looked back at the biggest stories of the year in mixed martial arts.

On this week’s year-in-review episode, our panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King and Brian “Goze” Garcia discussed Conor McGregor’s absence from competition.

Although he still hasn’t returned to the octagon since an ankle injury at UFC 264 in 2021, McGregor made plenty of headlines throughout the year, for better or worse.

McGregor seemingly has a fight pending, considering he coached opposite Michael Chandler in the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but a date for the matchup has yet to be set.

Will McGregor return in 2024? If so, how many fights can we expect from the former two-division champ? Does the UFC need him even with record numbers in his absence?
