Dricus Du Plessis receives incredible reception at South African airport

The UFC crowed their first South African champion at UFC 297 on Jan. 20 in Toronto, Canada.  Dricus Du Plessis narrowly defeated Sean Strickland via split decision to win the 185-pound championship.  

Popular in his home country before the championship win, Du Plessis returned home and was greeted by cheers from hundreds of fans at the airport.  Video surfaced of his arrival and it’s something to see.  

Fans lined the corridor that Du Plessis would walk down leaving the airport.  The upper tiers had onlookers at the rail to get a glimpse of “Stillknocks.”
