Ian Machado Garry: ‘I’m going to make Geoff Neal quit’

Top 10 ranked welterweights, Geoff Neal and Ian Garry, clash on the UFC 298 main card on Feb. 17 in Anaheim, Calif., and Garry plans on making Neal quit.

Garry (13-0) has the opportunity to move up the 170-pound rankings with a win over Neal (15-5).  Neal will be the highest ranked opponent the unbeaten Garry has faced thus far in his four-year mixed martial arts career.

“What am I going to finish him with? I am going to make him quit,” Garry said in an Instagram post. “He’ll choose when he’s done. I’d like to kick him to the body and have him do that, when the dog’s sh*tting – the look when the dogs look at you, like, when they’re pooing, for protection. That’s what they do, right? Look at their owners when they’re pooing because that’s when they’re vulnerable for attack?”

Neal will enter the fight ranked eighth in the division while Garry is ranked in the tenth spot.  The two were slated to meet at UFC 292, but Neal was forced out of the fight.  Garry instead faced Neil Magny and picked up his 13th consecutive win.

Neal is coming off a submission loss to third-ranked Shavkat Rakhmonov.  Prior to the loss to Rakhmonov, Neal had won back-to-back fights over Santiago Ponzinibbio and Vicente Luque.

UFC 298 is headlined by a featherweight title bout between champion Alexander Volkanovski and third-ranked Ilia Topuria.  The event takes place at the Honda Center and is the tenth time the fight promotion has held an event in Anaheim.
