Alexa Grasso’s ‘best scenario’ is to finish Valentina Shevchenko at the Sphere

LAS VEGAS – Alexa Grasso will look to put a stamp on her rivalry with Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC flyweight champion Grasso (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) will coach Season 32 of the “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Shevchenko (23-4-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC). “TUF 32” begins filming this week and will premiere on June 4.

Grasso dethroned Shevchenko to claim the flyweight title with a stunning submission upset at UFC 285. They ran things back six months later, where they fought to a split draw in the main event of the inaugural Noche UFC event on Mexican Independence Day. Grasso doesn’t plan on changing much in her prep, but will look to get the finish on the feet this time.

“Every fight is kind of similar,” Grasso told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Monday at the UFC Apex. “Of course, I love striking. The first fight I was able to touch her, second fight I did a knockdown so, my goal in the third fight is of course to finish the fight.”

With the season expected to run weekly for 12 episodes, Grasso and Shevchenko could end up fighting on the Noche UFC card at the Sphere in Las Vegas – something Grasso would love.

“I hope this is true,” Grasso said. “I would love to fight there. That would be awesome with the show, a finish at the Sphere would be the best scenario.”
