Brendan Allen on ‘delusional’ Marvin Vettori: ‘I’m going to walk him like a dog’

Brendan Allen plans on beating Marvin Vettori in decisive fashion.

Allen (23-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC) takes on Vettori (19-6-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) in a UFC Fight Night main event on April 6 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Allen isn’t sold on Vettori’s resume. He credits him for his durability but is confident he can dominate.

“He hasn’t beaten anybody good. He doesn’t finish anybody,” Allen told Middle Easy. “Is he tough? Hell yeah, I’ll give him that. He’s tough, he’s got a great mindset, but I’m going to walk him like a dog. Technically, I’m way superior. I’m going to show him exactly that on fight night.

“I’m too technically good. If it’s got to be gritty and he wants to make it a fight, I can do that too. His only hope is to catch me, but he’s delusional. He is a legit delusional person. This is the same guy who thinks he f*cking smashed Izzy. Izzy schooled you twice.”

Vettori has never been finished in 27 professional fights, but Allen vows to be the first to put him away. The 28-year-old has submitted five of his past six opponents and finished 19 of his 23 professional wins.

“I’m going to finish him,” Allen said. “I’ve fought guys that have knocked people out, that ain’t been dropped and this and that. Guys that ain’t been submitted, I submit them. Just because he hasn’t been finished means nothing to me. He hasn’t fought me. He hasn’t fought anyone like me. I’m going out there to put him away. My goal is to outclass him and then put him away. I’m coming to prove a point. I’m proving it to myself that I am just that damn good.”

A win over former title challenger Vettori would make it seven straight for Allen. While he’d love a win to bolster up him the division, he’s not sure what the implications are.

“It’s hard to say because the division is so crazy,” Allen said. “Obviously, I hope it puts me above everyone else for a title shot, but you never know, man. I think honestly, if I had a crazy ton of followers, I would already have one, but I don’t.

“So I just have to do all this sh*t off of skill because I’m not the kind of guy to do things for clicks or for clout. I’m just me. I don’t change me, but I think if I had a lot of followers, I’d already have a title shot. Worst case scenario, one more fight after this for a No. 1 contender and then the title shot because the champion couldn’t hold my lunch.”
