Marvin Vettori withdraws from UFC Fight Night main event vs. Brendan Allen

The UFC Fight Night event April 6 has lost one half of its main event.

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori is out of his five-round bout vs. Brendan Allen at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for undisclosed reasons.

A person with knowledge of the cancellation recently informed MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Fight Bananas first reported the news.

Allen (23-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC), who first hinted at the change Tuesday on Instagram, is unlikely to remain on the card. It is not known what fight will now headline the event.

It’s also unclear when or vs. whom he will return, but Allen tagged Jared Cannonier, Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya in the post.

“I was ready for everything, so now I am the #5 @ufc middleweight in the world!” Allen wrote. “So who above me is trying to fight soon?”

Vettori (19-6-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) looked to bounce back from a June unanimous decision loss to Jared Cannonier, whereas Allen angled to extend his current winning streak to seven.
