Time to kick of St. Paddy’s Day weekend with a banger … and mash?

What better way to start off one of the rowdiest holidays in the United States than with some traditional fisticuffs in one of the most famous fighting venues in the world? Welcome to the start of St. Patrick’s Day fight weekend, and we’ve got a young star from Ireland coming to join in the festivities in the biggest Irish-American celebration weekend of them all.

Now, Ireland doesn’t really go quite as crazy as Americans do for ole’ St. Paddy’s Day, but as a rule of thumb, they get a kick out of how bonkers the United States goes in on this, especially in the cities where Irish-American immigration was big once upon a time.

Expect rowdy, drunk fight fans to be all over Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., TONIGHT (Fri., March 15, 2024) as young Irish boxing star, Callum Walsh (9-0 – 7 KOs) returns to the ring to battle hard-hitting Kazak veteran, Dauren Yeleussinov (11-3-1 – 10 KOs), in a 10-round bout.

This event stream live on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET, with our live coverage of the main event starting at around 10:30 p.m. ET below.

Callum Walsh Vs. Dauren Yeleussinov Full Play-By-Play:

Round 1: Yeleussinov in red, black and white camo. Walsh in the Irish colors of orange, green and white. Walsh catches Yeleussinov with a right hand as he ducks. Yeleussinov fires back, lands a left. Yeleussinov looks like he’s not comfortable with his balance at the moment, as he’s stumbled forward a few times. Walsh has attempted a check hook at least three times already, and each time, Yeleussinov has rolled it off his shoulder. Yeleussinov with a left after the ref called for a break during a tie-up which draws the ire of the crowd. Walsh with two right hands.

10-9 Walsh

Round 2: Great right left combo by Walsh, who takes the opportunity to swarm on Dauren. Walsh landed about four strikes in that flurry. They tie up and Yeleussinov flips him over because Walsh keeps holding onto the shoulder. Right-left for Walsh and the left connected. Walsh has done a good job timing Yeleussinov’s ducks and slips.

10-9 Walsh

Round 3: Yeleussinov keeps falling over his front foot. Walsh with a jab, then a body blow. Heavy left hand by the Irishman. Slower round this time. Walsh pot-shotting a bit as he takes each opportunity.

10-9 Walsh

Round 4: Left hand drives Yeleussinov into the ropes and Walsh enjoys the free pass to swing unencumbered on him. Ref gives Yeleussinov a warning for… I’m not really sure, honestly, I don’t think I liked how he was getting out of the clinches. There’s a nice right by Yeleussinov, but he also eats one that knocks his mouthpiece out. Yeleussinov gets in a counter right, staggered by one seconds later.

10-9 Walsh

Round 5: Slapping left by Walsh. Yeleussinov gets to the liver. Walsh lands a 3. Yeleussinov the aggressor this round, following up on the success he found in the previous stanza. Walsh fighting off his back foot for most of this round, but still landing at a decent clip. Yeleussinov up top, eats one back.

10-9 Yeleussinov, but that may be generous

Round 6: Walsh looks like he’s slowing down a bit. In fairness, Yeleussinovhas tanked all of his punches fairly well, so maybe he just relaizes he’s not gonna knock him out. Or even down perhaps, as he lands a nice right that barely fazes Yeleussinov. Walsh with a pair of lefts that knock sweat flying. A nice right, too. Good lead left. Yeleussinov with a double jab.

10-9 Walsh

Round 7: Yeleussinov jabs to the body. He misses a slow left and eats one to the ribs for his troubles. Walsh hits a left, too. Yeleussinov to the liver, Walsh to the chin. Walsh staggers Yeleussinov with a left, easily his best shot of the match.

10-9 Walsh

Round 8: Walsh flurrying, gets in a right at the end of his combo. Walsh senses he might have an opportunity to get his durable opponent out, but I’m not sure it’s gonna happen on that tough Yeleussinov. Dauren up the middle, gets a glove to his mouth for his efforts. Yeleussinov ducks directly into a left hand. His face is ballooning up.

10-9 Walsh

Round 9: They’re getting chippy in the clinches and the ref is talking to both of them. Yeleussinov hits a right to the forehead, Walsh with one to the body. Walsh is landing and the left eye of Yeleussinov is getting worse and worse. Right on cue, the ref steps in and that’s all she wrote. Big win for Walsh against a fighter with a lot of decent experience.

Final result: Callum Walsh defeats Dauren Yeleussinov by TKO
