UFC rebooks Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Ricky Turcios

Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Ricky Turcios is back on the books following a last-minute February cancellation.

The bantamweight fight has been rescheduled for June 8 at a location and venue not yet announced.

Two people with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Fighting first reported the booking.

Rosas (18-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Turcios (12-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) were aligned for a showdown Feb. 24 at UFC Fight Night 237 in Mexico City. Both fighters made weight the day prior, but the fight was suddenly canceled minutes before the walkout. Rosas later revealed an illness rendered him unable to compete in the eyes of his coaches.

Minutes after the cancellation, UFC CEO Dana White announced the fight would take place the following week at UFC Fight Night 238. However, the bout did not happen.

Rosas, 19, was the youngest fighter to ever sign with the promotion. He did so at 17 after a victory on Dana White’s Contender Series. After a successful debut vs. Jay Perrin, Rosas lost for the first time as a professional when he dropped a decision to Christian Rodriguez. Rosas bounced back with a quick TKO of Terrence Mitchell in September.

Turcios, 30, is “The Ultimate Fighter 29” bantamweight winner. He holds wins over Brady Hiestand and Kevin Natividad in the UFC, with his lone promotional loss against Aiemann Zahabi. All three fights went the distance.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for June 8 includes:

  • Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Ricky Turcios
  • Ludovit Klein vs. Thiago Moises
  • Miguel Baeza vs. Puna Soriano
  • Jesse Butler vs. Brad Katona
  • Denise Gomes vs. Eduarda Moura
  • Julian Marquez vs. Zach Reese
  • Rayanne Amanda vs. Puja Tomar
  • Taylor Lapilus vs. Cody Stamann
  • Carlos Prates vs. Charlie Radtke
