Former UFC champ Anthony Pettis booked vs. Chris Avila in boxing match on Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2 card

Former UFC and WEC champion Anthony Pettis will continue his foray in boxing with a bout on the undercard of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2.

Pettis will take on Diaz teammate Chris Avila in a six-round bout contested at 175 pounds on the June 1 card, which takes place at Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., and streams on Fanmio pay-per-view.

The matchup was announced Friday.

Pettis made his first venture in the boxing ring in April 2023 when he earned a majority decision win over boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. under the Gamebred Boxing banner. “Showtime” most recently competed in December in Karate Combat, where he earned a unanimous decision over familiar foe Benson Henderson.

He will look to stay undefeated in the boxing ring against fellow MMA veteran Avila, who is 5-0 in his own boxing career and has beaten Jeremy Stephens and Anthony Taylor as part of that streak.
