Diaz Denies Diva Demands

The Diaz vs. Masvidal show arrived in New York City last night and ‘Gamebred’ is still angry about all the concessions he had to make to draw Diaz into a fight.

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are set to fight each other again on June 1st, this time in a boxing ring. Their UFC 244 fight was also the original BMF title fight, dubbed that because of Diaz’s insistence that whoever won was the baddest motherf—er.

Masvidal won that one, beating Diaz up and forcing a stoppage on cuts after the third round. And during a New York City stop on their promotional tour for Diaz vs. Masvidal 2, “Gamebred” suggested Nate had been more of a diva than BMF in the way he negotiated the rematch.

“You guys will see in the press conference, we’ll start going off on several things,” Masvidal said in a scrum before the presser. “Because you’re gonna see a lot of things that are funny with Nate Diaz.”

“I’ll give you a little spoiler alert, he said he wouldn’t fight unless he walked out second, like non negotiable. What the f— are you talking about? Real Fighter Inc. and this is the s— you pulling? That was one of the many things. Another thing he wanted was his name on top or he wouldn’t fight.”

“So I’m like, do you want to fight or what, motherf—er?” Masvidal asked. “You’ve been telling the whole world the same s— because back in the UFC when I was fighting for titles and you were doing nothing but picking your nose, you didn’t want to scrap after I got done with the title fights.”

During the press conference, Diaz was asked why all the promotional material said Diaz vs. Masvidal instead of Masvidal vs. Diaz.

“I didn’t ask for anything,” he said before putting the microphone down and leaving silence for several seconds.

“If it wasn’t him it was his manager,” Masvidal finally replied. “Because they said if it wasn’t like this it’s not happening. I don’t get it, is it negotiation tactics or you don’t want to scrap over whose name is on top … But I don’t really give a f— because all I really want to do is fight, and you f—ers will be able to tell that, I’m just a fighter. I’m just a dog. This is how I make my money.”

“Well, I didn’t ask for anything, this is just happening,” Diaz said. “So who’s the A-side? If I had a rematch recommendation, it would be for an MMA fight.”

This was not the first time during the press conference Diaz has not-so-subtly complained their boxing match wasn’t an MMA fight, which is certainly an interesting choice after spending years in MMA complaining you aren’t boxing.

“100% in. The trilogy could be in MMA any day,” Masvidal replied. “I’m actually signed to a UFC company that does MMA. I’m not a free agent. But would you rather fight in a promotion that’s not the UFC? Like what the f—.”

“If you were the baddest motherf—er you’d do what you want,” Nate said.

This is stop two of four on ‘The Baddest Tour’ so things are just starting to heat back up between the two fighters.
