Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney were supposed to throw out the first pitch of the Mets-Pirates game on Tues. night at Citi Field. But then stadium officials reversed course and pulled the plug on the problematic pugilists.

‘’Yo guys, the Mets just wasted three hours of our life,” Garcia shouted on social media. “To say at the end, ‘You can’t throw the pitch,’ for whatever reason. There was no reason, and they kicked us out for no reason. I’m personally gonna say f**k the Mets. Don’t ever go to a f**king Mets game again, f**k the Mets.’’

Turns out Mets were worried about a repeat of the incident at the Empire State Building, where Haney two-handed Garcia following a tense face off (watch it here).

Garcia and Haney have a history of pre-fight scuffles.

“Bizarre scene tonight at Citi Field in New York, where Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia were scheduled to throw out the first pitch of Mets-Pirates,” sports reporter Chris Mannix wrote on Twitter. “Mets officials pulled the plug on it after the fighters arrived, I’m told by sources with direct knowledge, because they didn’t want to risk an incident on the field. Haney and Garcia, who will face off Saturday at Barclays Center, scuffled at the Empire State Building earlier today.”

Garcia battles Haney for the super lightweight title this Sat. night (April 20, 2024) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
