Devin Haney insists he “fought like a true champion” despite losing to Ryan Garcia last weekend in Brooklyn, New York. He’s not wrong, considering Garcia failed to make weight and was ineligible to win Haney’s WBC super lightweight strap.

“The Dream” did not suffer a broken jaw despite considerable post-fight swelling.

“Alhamdulillah Allah is the perfect planner he makes no mistakes,” Haney wrote on social media. “Fought like a true champion. Got up off the canvas and kept fighting. I am 100-percent okay and would love to do it again while we both make weight. I have no broken anything by the way, like I said I’m okay. Same way you dish, be able to take it. I will be back InshaAllah.”

The Garcia upset proved to be an expensive night for cocksure bettors.

“He fooled you guys into thinking that he was crazy, I knew that he wasn’t crazy,” Haney’s father and head trainer, Bill Haney, said on Instagram. “It was a good fight but we gotta take it in stride. Definitely want a rematch, Devin is still the WBC champion — couldn’t lose the belt because Ryan was overweight, he didn’t make the scale, but we wanted to make the fight happen.”
