Former UFC welterweight headliner Donald Cerrone was scheduled to ride Dana White’s bull, “Twisted Steel,” at the upcoming Professional Bull Riders (PBR) “Unleash The Beast” event on Sat., May 18, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Unfortunately Cerrone, who turned 41 just a few weeks back, was seriously injured riding a practice bull earlier this week, tearing his biceps completely off the bone. As a result, “Cowboy” will be removed from the “Lone Star State” lineup.

“As y’all know I was set to ride Dana White’s ‘Twisted Steel’ at the PBR World Finals on May 18,” Cerrone wrote on Instagram. “I was just rushed into surgery with 100-percent biceps tear off the bone! Guess you mess with the bull you sometimes get the horns. This is not the end. I will rehab and get back after it.”

UFC CEO Dana White insists it was a “bad idea from the start.”

“I thought this was a bad idea for Cowboy from the start,” White said in a statement provided to MMAmania.com. “Twisted Steel is the nastiest bull in the PBR. He’s bucked 90-percent of his riders. Let’s leave it to the pros at the PBR World Finals in Arlington.”

That’s a far cry from White’s original stance back in January.

“Cowboy Cerrone called [Twisted Steel] out saying that he wants to ride my bull,” White previously told his Twitter followers. “Now, my bull is a legit badass. The last PBR guy that rode him, professional bull rider, lasted 2.5 seconds. So Cowboy Cerrone, I accept your challenge. I will donate $50,000 to the charity of your choice for you to ride him. If you last eight seconds, I will give you $100,000.”

Sounds like White just saved himself a bunch of money. More for the Nelk Boys!
