But “The Black Beast” was shooting blanks when it came time to hurl the opening pitch for the Houston Astros back in summer 2021, putting five ounces of cowhide directly into the dirt before getting shamed by Orbit, the little green mascot with a heart of oil.

In what can only be described as an act of mercy, Lewis was invited back to the ball field for a shot at redemption. This time, the UFC heavyweight was able to find home plate (kinda) when he threw the opening pitch for St. Louis earlier today at Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals are playing the New York Mets, no stranger to awful first pitches.

Lewis, 39, headlines the UFC St. Louis mixed martial arts (MMA) event this Sat. night (May 11, 2024) at Enterprise Center, taking on grizzled Brazilian bruiser Rodrigo Nascimento. Both fighters are currently ranked in the Top 15 … but not by much.
