Off Guard: Andre Harrison keen to set up potential trilogy battle with Lance Palmer in PFL playoffs

Andre Harrison is on weight, on point and ready to go ahead of the PFL Playoffs.

The 31-year-old American faces the possibility of two fights in one night, with the featherweight quarterfinals and semifinals both set to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday.

Speaking to MMA Junkie outside the Delano Las Vegas hotel, Harrison (21-1 MMA, 5-1 PFL) cut a confident, relaxed figure ahead of a big night.

“I feel good, man,” he said. “I’ve had a great camp and I’m excited to go out there and put on (a show) for you guys.”

Despite his powerful, muscular frame, Harrison says his gas tank will not be an issue over the course of his night’s work, saying he’s “got the best cardio, hands down.”

Harrison takes on Alex Gilpin in the quarterfinals of the tournament, and already knows his likely opponent in the semis if he’s successful.

Defending PFL featherweight champion Lance Palmer takes on Alexandre Almeida on the other side of the playoff bracket, with the winner moving on to take on the winner of Harrison’s bout with Gilpin.

If both men are successful, it would set up an intriguing trilogy match between the pair. Each man currently holds a win over the other. In addition to their own potential trilogy, Palmer’s quarterfinal clash with Almeida is also a trilogy fight.

“Like Lance said, man – it would be two trilogies in one night. You guys are in for something. We’re gonna figure it out.”

Harrison, who lost to Palmer in the 2018 playoff semifinals, said it’s only human to have half a thought on the $1 million prize, but he’s trying to keep his mind on the task at hand.

“It’s $1 million dollars – who’s not going to think about it?” he said. “But you’ve got to prioritize. (It’s all about) Gilpin right now.”
