Renato Moicano to make lightweight debut at UFC on ESPN+ 28

Renato Moicano is officially moving up to 155 pounds.

Moicano (13-3-1 MMA, 5-3 UFC), a former featherweight contender, will elevate to lightweight when he takes on Damir Hadzovic at UFC on ESPN+ 28.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news to MMA Junkie following an initial report Thursday from Combate. The person asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an announcement.

Both Moicano and Hadzovic (13-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will look to rebound from losses in their most recent outings. Moicano has dropped back-to-back fights to Chan Sung Jung and Jose Aldo. Both were by knockout.

Hadzovic most recently fought in June, when he lost a unanimous decision to Christos Giagos.

UFC on ESPN+ 28 takes place March 14 at Ginasio Nilson Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil. The card is expected to stream on ESPN+.
