Donald Cerrone says he’ll offer Conor McGregor immediate rematch when he wins at UFC 246

LAS VEGAS – Donald Cerrone fully expects to win at UFC 246, and when he does he says he’d be willing to give Conor McGregor an immediate rematch.

McGregor (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) has lost only twice under the UFC banner – to Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov – and his desire to run losses back has been crystal clear.

The Irishman was obsessed with fighting Diaz again after losing at UFC 196 (which he did at UFC 202 and won), and he has not hidden the fact he wants to rematch UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedo, who defeated him at UFC 229.

This makes it fair to expect it would be no different if McGregor falls short against “Cowboy” on Saturday, and should that be the case, Cerrone (36-13 MMA, 23-10 UFC) would happily give him another shot – and soon.

“Hey, sure,” Cerrone told MMA Junkie at UFC 246 media day. “I would because I don’t care. The who never matters to me. It’s always the when and the where. I heard him yesterday talking about April sounds free – or April, March, whatever the (expletive) they said sounds good to me. I would love to get right back on and get in there in March. So, yeah (I would do an immediate rematch).”

Cerrone vs. McGregor headlines UFC 246, UFC 246 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.

Although rematch talk is compelling, it matters not until after the fight. Cerrone said the entirety of his focus is on UFC 246, and he intends to rise to the occasion in a thrilling affair.

“Saturday night we’re going to blow the roof off this mother(expletive), so I can’t wait,” Cerrone said. “‘Cowboy’ is showing up for the big one.”
