Wanna Bet Someone Misses Weight? Now You Can!

Bookies never miss an opportunity to play the game of chance, at your expense of course, and we’ve seen some pretty wild wagers over the years. That includes the betting line that had Conor McGregor’s arrest record in play during the buildup to his UFC 264 headliner opposite Dustin Poirier back in summer 2021.

Sigh … good times.

UFC Vegas 91, which takes place this Sat. night (April 27, 2024) at the promotion’s APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, may not have the star power of some of the other UFC fight cards on the second quarter docket (like this pay-per-view bonanza), but it does have a new and somewhat controversial offering for audacious bettors.

Introducing the “make weight” odds.

Draft Kings is laying lines on each fighter’s weigh in for UFC Vegas 91. Making weight is the heavy favorite for every athlete, as it should be, but you can look at a combatant’s track record and decide whether or not history will repeat itself at Friday’s early (and official) weigh ins. That said, weight wagers may not be available in all regions.

That will come as disappointing news to those bettors eying this action.

Fans on social media are concerned with how easily something like a fighter’s ability to make weight can be manipulated to win a bet. That said, there is a cap on how much bettors can wager on scale fails and it would seem unlikely that a combatant would game the system and risk their careers for a few hundred bucks.

Oh wait…

UFC Vegas 91 will be headlined by the flyweight showdown between Matheus Nicolau and Alex Perez. Elsewhere on the card, Ryan Spann and Bogdan Guskov hook ‘em up at light heavyweight, while Ariane Lipski and Karine Silva go to war at 125 pounds. In addition, welterweight “Dirty Bird” Tim Means returns to battle Uros Medic.
