”I’m very excited to be part of the BKFC family,” Alves said in today’s release. “I’m looking forward to testing my skills against anyone in my weight class. The ‘Pitbull’ is thirsty for blood!”

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title contender, Thiago Alves, recently put pen to paper for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where he’s expected to make his debut against an opponent to be named later this spring.

”Thiago Alves has been a staple in the UFC for a long time,” said David Feldman, BKFC President and Founder. “It’s amazing to have a fighter of this stature, and of this caliber, fighting for BKFC. Alves brings it each and every time he gets into the ring. On top of being a great fighter, he’s also a great person. That’s who we are aligning ourselves with. We can’t wait to have Thiago make his debut in April or May.”

Alves (23-15) parted ways with UFC after dropping back-to-back fights to Laureano Staropoli and Tim Means, the latter of which ended by way of submission. The 36 year-old “Pitbull” scraped by with a 6-9 record after failing to capture the title from Georges St-Pierre at UFC 100 more than a decade ago.
