Longtime UFC veteran Ray Borg, who competed — and missed weight — at both flyweight and bantamweight, recently told his social media followers that if he ever came in heavy again, he would quit MMA for good.

His words:

“I have taken my career to a whole new level mentally and have started taking the steps to go from dieting/fight camps to lifestyle,” Borg wrote after missing the bantamweight mark for UFC on ESPN 2. “With this lifestyle change I believe that the world will finally see my true talent and potential. I also want it to go on record that if I ever miss weight again or miss a fight due to anything other than a serious injury, I will leave the sport of MMA forever.”

“We still have a fight to win tomorrow and all my focus is on that, I was so confident in my ability to make weight that I even vowed to retire if I missed weight again, which is a subject that currently is not on my mind at the moment,” he continued. “Sorry to my opponent and his team for the unprofessionalism and hope to put on a good show tomorrow.”
