Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight No. 1 contender, Cat Zingano, had been suffering from the effects of Breast Implant Illness (BII), which led to “random, stubborn and undiagnosable symptoms.”

After diligent research (and years of suffering), “Alpha” moved forward with the “big and intimidating decision” to surgically remove her implants, leading to a remarkable recovery of her overall health while also improving her workouts.

“I sensed and researched BII a couple years ago but I didn’t believe in the severity and didn’t want to risk the change in vanity until I was watching it start to really kick my ass,” Zingano said. “I got sick, so sick, without explanation. This was a big and intimidating decision and something that I encourage anyone with random, stubborn and undiagnosable symptoms to look up. Some people are completely fine with implants, some people end up dead. Do your research. Much love. Wear your scars.”

Zingano (10-4) has not competed since getting a toe implant at UFC 232 back in late 2018. “Alpha,” who turns 38 in July, eventually parted ways with the promotion and is expected to make her Bellator MMA debut later this year.
