Dana White on Donald Trump blowback: ‘If you don’t like me because I’m friends with Trump, that’s your problem’

UFC president Dana White and US president Donald Trump have been friends for a long time. And if you don’t like it, White doesn’t care.

White and Trump’s friendship dates back to the early 2000s when White and the Fertitta brothers first took ownership of the UFC. It was a turbulent time for mixed martial arts and the UFC in particular, as nearly every state in the country had blacklisted them.

Well before his political aspirations, Trump offered the UFC a means to put its product in front of people, hosting their events at his Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.

The friendship between White and Trump has only grown stronger over the years with White often singing the President’s praises as one of his most loyal and caring friends.

Typically staying out of politics, White spoke on behalf of Trump at the Republican National Convention when his friend was then trying to secure the Republican candidacy. Trump became the first sitting US president to attend a mixed martial arts event when he was Octagonside at UFC 244 in New York. And White recently joined Trump on Air Force One for a campaign stop in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he once again spoke briefly on behalf of his friend.

He doesn’t particularly care if you don’t like it or if the UFC happens to lose a few fans because of it.

“I could give a s**t,” he told TMZ Sports. “If you don’t like me because I’m friends with (President Trump), that’s your problem, not mine.”
